The day unfolded naturally, with guests moving easily between the ceremony space, the lawn, and the reception while conversations and laughter carried through the background the entire afternoon.
One of my favourite details from the day was a wooden bench placed near the reception area. Throughout the afternoon and evening, guests were invited to write messages directly onto the bench for the couple.
At first glance it seemed like a simple idea, but standing there watching people take turns leaving notes, marriage advice, jokes, memories, and well wishes, it became something much more meaningful.
Long after the flowers have faded and the cake is forgotten, Jaco and Lillabet will have a bench sitting in their home covered in handwritten messages from the people who shared the day with them.
Those are the kinds of details that tend to matter most years later.

And yes, the pampoenkoekies deserve their own mention.

If you’re planning your wedding here, I’d strongly recommend leaving 15 to 20 minutes open just before sunset.
The light across the surrounding fields becomes incredibly soft as the day cools down, and it’s often one of the few moments where couples get to step away together for a breather before the reception fully begins.
Some of my favourite photographs at Die Klipskuur have happened during those few quiet minutes while guests settle into dinner and the last light disappears behind the farm.
